While Need for Speed Most Wanted U may have launched a few months later than its console counterparts, the extra polish and attention shown to the Wii U version of the game make it the definitive experience. Co-driver mode adds features that enhance the game in both single player and when playing with a friend or family member in the same room. The enhanced visuals are a treat on the eyes and serve as one of the few times that a developer has shown this much care to a Nintendo port. If all multiplatforms were given this level of polish and attention to detail, I think people would be inclined to try third-party games on Nintendo consoles. If you own a Wii U, you owe it to yourself to buy Need for Speed Most Wanted U, not just because it is currently the systems definitive racing game, but because the level of polish on this game stands head-to-head with even Nintendos first-party offerings.

IGN:As with all sandbox games the narrative is of your own making but this is even more true of Most Wanted. The side-effect is that it can feel aimless at times. If you desire structure, if you wanted a game to be meted out to you, you might find its instant freedom somewhat overwhelming. But Most Wanted is all about deviation and deviance. Its the racing game for people who dont tend to like racing games. Youre not punished for missing that apex or abandoning that nagging racing line. Its undoubtedly one of the years most exhilarating experiences.

Tom Chick: "I suppose the gamepad is a valuable way to look at the map without calling up a fullscreen map view. But mostly, its a sadly missed opportunity in an otherwise great racing game."

Canadian Online Gamers: "The Wii U version of NFS Most Wanted U sacrifices nothing from other console versions and adds some good features that improve the games accessibility. These new elements that the Wii U version brings are slightly hampered by some minor control issues though. Still, with extra features that expand the potential audience and a $15 DLC pack thrown in for free, if you havent already picked up this game this is the definitive Most Wanted experience."

Cheat Code Central's Josh Wirtanen writes: "After I got Most Wanted U installed (I got a digital copy rather than a physical one), Muses Butterflies and Hurricanes started playing during the games opening cinematic, and I felt like I was returning to an old friend."

From the review: "Need for Speed Most Wanted is an expertly tuned and turbocharged port that brings a superior experience to the Wii U. The game is just as good, even better than the other versions, the new Wii U features are fun and best of all it runs like a dream on Nintendos new console. The only caveats are the usual compulsory Origin account for multiplayer, and the frustrating fact that for now, EA wont be releasing any more DLC for this version."

Its a shame more publishers dont see the Wii U as a viable platform. You dont always have to cram in half-baked modes and functionality into the Gamepad the things got perfectly functioning buttons and analog sticks, too. The Wii U is a capable system at least with current generation games and games like Tomb Raider, or the upcoming Bioshock Infinite seem like theyd be perfect matches for the hardware, given Nintendos desire to bring back hardcore gamers into the fold.
